About Holland
Holland is in the southern part of Northampton Township, between Newtown and Churchville. It is mostly family neighborhoods. The Churchville Nature Center and reservoir are nearby.
Most yards have a front lawn, foundation beds and a backyard lawn. The work is less about big builds and more about doing the basics on time.
A simple season plan
A season plan bundles the routine work so nothing gets missed.
- Spring cleanup: remove debris, cut back perennials, edge beds.
- Mulch: about 2 to 3 inches in beds, kept off stems and trunks.
- Mowing: weekly in peak growth, mowing high to shade out weeds.
- Summer: watch for dry spells and grubs.
- Fall: aeration, overseeding and leaf removal.
Common Holland lawn problems
Thin spots after summer are common. Fall is the best time to fix them because cool nights and warm soil help new grass take root.
Too much mulch is a frequent issue in older beds. Years of piling it on can smother roots. Sometimes old mulch should be removed before new mulch goes down.
Before you ask for quotes
- Decide between one-time cleanup and a season plan.
- Note bare spots and weedy areas.
- Ask how often mowing visits happen and what they include.
- Ask if leaf removal is part of the plan or extra.
